I work in the staffing business, which means I spend more time on Linkedin than any sane person should. I’m connected with all kinds of people, including a guy who is the director of recruiting at a defense contractor company. His posts are...interesting.
Scrolling through my updates, I came across the picture above.
This guy runs the recruiting department at a company that hires translators to go into combat zones as military support contractors. So it makes sense that he’d post a bunch of MURRICA type stuff on Linkedin, to get the MURRICA juices flowing in the people he wants to hire.
Given the other stuff this dude posts, I’m fairly confident this was not meant as a joke.
I think I just MURRICA’d all over myself.

I don’t understand how this could be considered a joke. Are you laughing at America? You know what happens to people who laugh at America? They get freedom. You know what freedom is? It’s a missile from a fucking drone!

So patriotism is like freedom with some of the good stuff taken out, and a bit of a bad smell added?

As someone who lives in a country severely affected by out of control ‘patriotism’ within the lifetime of the older generations, this makes me cringe. Hard.
I’d argue the opposite is true.

Really? I thought it was all brownies and bicycles, with the odd windmill and tulip thrown in for good measure.

Freedom in America generally reserved for those who can afford it.

Basically, it’s like Starbuck’s coffee breath.

This is true. Cheese and wooden shoes as well, and boys with fingers in dykes. However, a little while back (75 years or so) things got a little out of hand with our then-flagwaving eastern neighbors. They loved their country so much they wanted more of it.
